3rd World Community Power Conference

Forewords of Dr Ibrahim Togola

President, Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa

Mali was very honoured to host the 2nd World Community Power Conference in Bamako from 08 to 10 November 2018, the first of its kind in Africa. It was a great success with more than 400 participants from 40 countries from all continents. During this meeting the first African Community Power and Electrification Platform was established. And like the previous meeting, at the end of the conference a strong declaration was made, called «BAMAKO COMMUNITY POWER DECLARATION ».

On behalf of Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa and on my own, I thank all those who participated in this meeting and especially our partners: the Government of Mali, the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Protection and Nuclear Security, The World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), the World Food Program, GIZ and ISEP Japan.

From 2018 to now the world has changed. The COVID-19 pandemic has made physical international meetings nearly impossible. However, with human intelligence, other alternatives have emerged.

So, it is with great joy that we hand over the torch for the 3rd edition. It will be held on November 19, 2020 online, as a webinar with the theme: « Women in Community Power ».

With this theme we pay tribute to all women around the world and to African women in particular who are the backbone of our communities.

We make a heartfelt appeal to everyone for a successful participation to the 3rd Conference.

Good luck to the 3rd World Community Power Conference!

Dr Ibrahim Togola,

President, Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa
