PRESS RELEASE

Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa Accredited to the Green Climate Fund as a Direct Access Entity

The Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), meeting in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) at its 45th session (B.45), approved on Wednesday 1 July 2026 the accreditation of Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa (MFC Nyetaa) as a Direct Access Entity of the Fund.
This decision marks the successful conclusion of a rigorous and demanding process, conducted over several years, during which MFC Nyetaa demonstrated the strength of its governance, the reliability of its fiduciary management, and the compliance of its policies and environmental and social safeguard systems with the highest international standards. The accreditation will now enable MFC Nyetaa to access Green Climate Fund resources directly, in order to develop and implement climate change adaptation and mitigation projects for the benefit of Malian communities.

Expressions of Gratitude
MFC Nyetaa expresses its deep gratitude to the authorities of the Republic of Mali, and in particular to the Ministry in charge of the Environment and to its National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (AEDD), for having endorsed MFC Nyetaa’s application and supported it unreservedly throughout the accreditation process. This institutional support reflects the confidence placed in national organisations to lead the country’s climate action.
Our thanks also go to Malian civil society, and most particularly to ResoClimat Mali, with its more than 130 Malian NGOs and associations active on climate change and environmental protection issues, whose steadfast commitment and solidarity have accompanied this endeavour at every stage.
MFC Nyetaa warmly thanks its technical and financial partners, who have stood by the organisation throughout this long process and whose support has contributed to the continuous strengthening of its institutional and operational capacities.

The organisation wishes to pay a heartfelt tribute to all of its staff who, for more than twenty years, have worked day and night to develop and implement relevant climate projects for the benefit of our brave communities on the ground, and whose exemplary mobilisation and decisive contribution made the successful completion of the accreditation process possible.
Finally, MFC Nyetaa extends its sincere thanks to the Accreditation Panel of the Green Climate Fund and to the GCF Secretariat, for their commitment, professionalism and availability throughout this journey.

A Renewed Responsibility
“This accreditation is not an end in itself. It reminds us of our responsibility to do even more for the climate, for development, and for the implementation of concrete climate initiatives for the benefit of our communities. We approach it with humility, determination and a deep sense of duty,” said Dr Ibrahim Togola, Chairman of the Board of MFC Nyetaa.
As a Direct Access Entity, MFC Nyetaa intends to contribute to strengthening Mali’s access to international climate finance and to delivering on national adaptation and mitigation priorities, in a spirit of transparency, accountability and partnership.
